Operation Inasmuch 2013

 With God's light shining through us, we cleaned up parks.

We expanded our food pantry and repaired a roof.

We collected food. 

We stocked our shelves. 

We planted a garden. 

We worked together. 

We filled up backpacks for students, 

And laundry baskets for families, 

And boxes for military workers.

We served food.

We shared God's love.

Operation Inasmuch 2013

Operation Inasmuch is coming up on Saturday, April 13. Some of this year's projects include planting a church garden, cleaning up a local park, putting together care packages for military workers, collecting food pantry donations from local grocery stores, cooking and delivering warm meals to families in need, repairing a roof for a family in the community, and hosting 3 seminars for senior citizens about brain training and memory strengthening, Alzheimer's, and tips on nutritional wellness. Sign up this week to help us in these and other various projects as we follow in Christ's footsteps and take care of others.

This spring, St. James participated in Operation Inasmuch once again, and we had a great time sharing God's love in our community by helping others and showing them the love of Christ. 

We planted a garden to grow fresh vegetables for the needy people in our community. 

                                   

We went out into the community and knocked on doors, handing out free books for children.

We held a Family Fun Day, inviting the community over for games, crafts, and a hot meal.  

We offered a vision screening and gave out bags and bags of canned goods, baby formula, laundry detergent, toilet paper, and other basic necessities to those who were in need.

A group of us went out to build steps to help a family get into and out of their home. 

We stood outside of grocery stores like Food Lion and Piggly Wiggly to collect canned goods and other groceries to help fill up our food pantry.

We put together birthday bags of cake mixes, icing, and other treats for people who have birthdays each month at our food pantry.

All these things (and more!) we did in the name of Jesus, seeking to share God's love in our community and to let everyone know that we care about them, and that God cares, too! All of these things we did, keeping in mind the words of Christ: "I tell you the truth. Whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:40).

What a success Operation Inasmuch was last Saturday, April 30! Due to the hard work, time, resources, and talents of our St. James Members we provided free services to our community to let them know that we here at St. James care about them, and God does too!

Operation Inasmuch 2010

On Operation Inasmuch Day this year, we had 131 of our members out and about, doing ministry around the Red Bank area. From making hot meals for 38 needy/shut-in families in the area;to building a retaining wall and cleaning up a local park; to building our own food pantry so that we can store canned goods for needy people in our community; to making 95 scarves and collecting 5 additional blankets for Veterans in need; to repairing and upgrading the homes of 2 two widows in need in the area; to offering free car maintenance checks to members of the community; to collecting 12 baskets of groceries from Food Lion for hungry people in the area; to creating 150 "Book Bag Blessings" (food bags) for school children who have no food to eat on the weekends...we love serving people in Christ's name!

Free Car Maintenance Check

Is something wrong with your car, but you don't have the money to find out what it is? Drop by St. James Lutheran Church this Saturday from 9AM-2PM for a free car maintenance check. We will have licensed mechanics there to check under the hood, top off fluids, and let you know what "really" needs to be fixed. We will also offer child car seat safety checks and fingerprinting for children. We care about your safety!

Operation Inasmuch 2009

Our operation was a success on Saturday, as our church members of all ages headed out into the community to share Christ's love through service projects. We handed out free smoke alarms and batteries; we built a retaining wall and cleaned up a local park; we made life books for foster children,

we made and served free meals to the community;

we made gifts for needy kids; we worked together to build a ramp and replace the sink and the doors for a local elderly lady's home.

We did all of these projects in Jesus' name and following Christ's example, giving glory to God and offering up our talents and abilities to serve others. What an exhausting and rewarding day it was for us all! It was certainly one that we won't soon forget.
